We just got a new PXW 160 camcorder. We’ve been doing event videography with PD170s till now.

For one of our multi-cam shoots, we used 2 PD170s and our new PXW160 with the MX70 switcher recording to a DSR 45ap.

Now since its an all analog setup, we used the Composite output from the PXW to get our video signal. But the quality of the video was so bad. It was kinda blurry, like things were out of focus (but was sharp on the camera’s LCD) and the overall picture was kinda soft compared to our usual PD170.

So, is this something expected? Should we use an SDI to Analog converted instead of taking a Composite out from the camera?

When we connected our cam to a Full HD tv via HDMI, the picture was really sharp though.

    Thanks!! 🙂
