purge unused media from project
Posted by Michael Garske on February 21, 2008 at 10:28 pmHey, is there a keyboard shortcut to purge your project of unused media? If not is there a menu option or something of the kind? Thanks.

February 21, 2008 at 10:52 pmGo to the HELP menu in FCP and open the FCP manual. Type in MEDIA MANAGER and read about all the options you have. There are step by step processes in there.
Not to say RTFM or anything, just wanting to save on typing, and to say that yeah, the manual has the answer to this one.

February 21, 2008 at 10:56 pmThere is a way to select all the clips that were used / not used in your project.
First, select your sequence in your browser. and then go to the edit menu and select find. A window opens and select Search: (Project Name) For: Unused media Results: Replace Media. If you have more than one sequence you will need to repeat the process but instead of Replace Find Results choose Add to Find Results.I then select all the files in the new window and label them all the same color just as a safeguard to make sure no files change color in my sequence timeline. Then you can select the changed files in your browser and make them offline and move to trash.
I also believe that media manager will also allow you to purge unused files but I like this way cause I can see the files being chosen and I can double check what will be deleted.
