Proxy Workflow and DNxIO
I would like to know how most folks here are handling proxy workflow in Premiere?
For years I have avoided it in Premiere due to my living in a RED eco-system.
I stick with the RAW format and my workstations are powerful enough for 4K playback.
However, the last job had me in a studio working with the Panasonic EVA-1.
They wanted to stick with Premiere and work in proxy mode.
I am a bit of a newb in Premiere as far as this workflow goes.
When I ingested and selected Proxy all seems to work fine.
But once in Premiere, the ingested files still state as the original RAW files from the EVA-1.
I know this cause there is an issue with their Avid DNxIO to Flanders which shows a purple clip when viewing anything over HD resolution. Now if I grab a clip from the project and drop on the sequence icon the settings seem to be 4K as well.
If I select the clip in the sequence and choose “reveal in finder” it seems to take me to the Proxy version.
I guess if they weren’t having any issues with the 4K output to the Avid DNxIO this would be all moot.
If I change the sequence format to HD, then all the clips are cropped.
Using the Toggle Proxies button but does not allow a Proxy to determine Sequence size when drag and dropping.
My understanding is that once you create a Proxy at a specific size shouldn’t you be able to create a sequence at that selected size?
