Proxy files in Vegas Movie Studio 9.0
I have been doing a little digging about proxy files and their usefullness. Someone had mentioned using a program called Gearshift from http://www.vasst.com. I downloaded the trial version, only to find out that the consumer version of Vegas will not allow this to happen. Gearshift is run through Vegas, and it shows you how to get to it in the readme file, but the consumer version allows no such plugin. My question is now “is there a way to even use proxy files in Vegas Movie Studio or not”? If so how can I do that? If not, is there another way to edit HD video, without taxing my computer so much. I want to edit the HD footage and render to a lower format, but my computer is a little slow and the playback of the HD footage in Vegas is slow as well, which makes editing difficult. I want to capture the HD footage to save for later if I decide to burn HD DVDs and many people have suggested that HD video has a better quality when downconverted on standard definiton devices as opposed to capturing the footage as standard definition to start with. Gearshift seemed to be just the program to help me out, but it only seems to be compatible with Vegas Pro. I just got Vegas Movie Studio for Christmas, and I have no plans or money to upgrade to Vegas Pro. I welcome all suggestions. Thanks again for you help.
