I’m working on an instructional video that requires a series of cascading bullets between video clips. I am finding that when I use the ProType titler to create these cascading bullets, it chokes my computer and playback always stalls. Is ProType Titler very resource intensive? It seems to be more intensive than video. I’m working with a new HP Pavillion with 8GB ram, and it has no problems with video playback, but stalls regularly with ProType Titler.

    Thanks

I haven’t found the ProType Titler to be resource intensive at all. What CPU, GPU are you using?

You could always render the title sequence using the QuickTime Animation codec and drop that in the project instead of having it play in real-time.

I’m using an HP Pavillion TouchSmart with 8GB Ram. UIt has an AMD A6-5200 APU Processor with RAdeon HD Graphics at 2.00 GHZ. I am adding an additional 8GB memory to speed things up (although I have no issue with video playback). And thanks for the render with QuickTIme idea. I can then at least watch the entire video in real speed to see how it all comes together.

I’m sorry to have to say this, but your CPU is woefully inadequate for video editing. Here are the benchmarks from Passmark AMD A6-5200 APU. As you can see, your extremely low score of 2418 pales in comparison to a score of 7473 for an Intel Core i7 2.3Ghz which is close to bare minimum for video work with Vegas Pro. In fact, your CPU is 1/3 slower than the weakest Core i5. So your computer just doesn’t have the power to drive ProType Titler.
