  ProTools and a direct attached FibreChannel RAID

  Hi there!
  I have some trouble with ProTools which, i think, is because of working (or better: trying to work) on a FibreChannel-RAID.

  As soon as i start any task which requires write-access to my disk (such as importing/converting a new file or doing a destructive edit) Protools hangs (beachball) and nothing happens.Force quit is my only option then.

  I figured out that this is only happening when the session is located on my working volume, which is a large (72 TB) FibreChannel RAID.
  After copying the session to my desktop(=Boot Volume) everything works fine.

  I need to describe the storage-setup:
  I’m on a new MacPro(2014) and the FibreChannel RAID (Infortrend DS S-24F G2850, RAID 5) is direct attached via an ATTO PCIe HBA (FC 82EN) which is located in a Sonnet EchoExpress IIIR Thunderbolt2 Enclosure.This works – except in ProTools – very well. i’m doing a lot of Video-Editing (Premiere CC, Davinci Resolve) as well as Audio in LogicX and everything runs smooth and very fast.
  I’ve got a measured Disk-troughput (AJA and BM Speedtests) of around 700 MB/s (read/write). So that can’t be a performance issue.

  So there are at least two reasons to me why PT is crashing:
  1) it’s a permission thing (PT can’t write to the disk)
  > is there a way to proof and fix that ? (I tried to repair permissions with
  the OSX-Disktool, but that didn’t help)

  2) It’s a hardware incompatibility; PT doesn’t “like” my setup (TB to PCIe-Card to FibreChannel)
  Are there known errors with setups like this?
  Do i really need to buy a “native” Thunderbolt-RAID ( i’m thinking of 1 or 2 Promise or ARECA TB2 RAIDs) and get rid of my large FibreChannel RAID?

  Or are there other ideas why i have this trouble?
