    Hi Folks:

I have rare footage that is part of my documentary that I will be sending out to various experts on the subject for review. I know that I can certainly pay for copyright on the documentary but I was wondering if Vegas has a built-in way of encrypting my video so that it is impossible or at least very difficult to copy.

Thanks for you help and support!

If you can watch it you can copy it!!

True of pretty much everything in the world of computers.

If you are worrying about the people you are sending it to copying it then there is little you can do,

If you want to protect it from general abuse – Zip the video up and encrypt the ZIP file – and then only share the password with the people you want to watch it – but other than that there is little you can do….

Place a large text warning (eg. For Review Purposes ONLY!!) on the entire video.
Use opacity so that, while still visible, it’s not going to interfere with the viewing.

If the distribution is limited in scope one could put the name of each person that is to get the video in an overlay stating that it is only for their use. (A watermark type of thing.) I.E. personalize each copy. I think that is what some movie studios are doing when they send out advanced copies of films for review. This may deter folks from passing it around since their name is on it.

    Jerry
