    Hi,

I am capturing ProRes422 and ProREs 422HQ. The PR422 captures and plays back fine in FCS2. The minute I capture 422HQ I get dropped frames. The data rate of the PR422 is 15meg per second. The 422HQ is 25meg per second. My esata raid speed is 130meg read and 135meg write. I change the timeline to match the different codecs. How can 10 meg data rate make such a difference? I am using it with the AJA IOHD with all the latest settings with 10.5.1 Leopard.

One other bizarre thing. When I play the clip directly from the browser/viewer there are no dropped frames. Only when in the timeline. I’m using 2 tracks audio, safe or unlimited RT.

It’s the MBP that’s not up to it

    Thank you,

Where can I find these specs and what is MPB? Is there a way around it now or does it just not work as promised?

Sorry, that was a typo. The MBP is short for MacBook Pro, and I don’t remember if it was in the FCP manual or Apple’s white paper for ProRes, but the MBP is not up to ProRes HQ, you’ll need a MacPro for that.

But unless you are heading for film-out, ProRes is quite OK.

    Regards,

    Uli

I have used PRHQ on my laptop with no issues yet (it’s still new).

    Did AJA sort you out?
