ProRes seems to yield a flatter image than DNxHR in Premiere Pro
Hey Premiere gurus,
The title pretty much explains my issue but basically I’m a PC user. I’ve used a ProRes converter to convert my h.265 files for a long while now however it takes a really long time to convert them. So I’ve been trying to switch to DNxHD/DNxHR but I’m noticing that the DNx files have more contrast than the ProRes files.
Ideally, I would prefer to use the lower contrast files for color grading and whatnot but the long conversion times are killing me.
Has anyone experienced this before? Is it an issue with Premiere or my converter or something else? I’m converting to DNxHD via Adobe Media Encoder if that makes a difference.
Here’s an image that shows the difference. Both files are straight after conversion
