Prores mov file won’t open in FCP or QT
I just got a prores movie on a drive with 5.1 audio attached to it.
I tried opening in QT, and got the error, it can’t open.
I tried opening it QT 7 pro or bringing it onto FCP,
it says “searching for movie data file” aif file, the movie cannot play without this.It’s searching for some kind of aif file.
F.Y.I. I also have the stems seperately as wav files. Those play fine, just the QT won’t open.Any ideas why it’s doing this?
I’m on mavericks, intel core i7, iMac, FCP 7, QT and QT 7 pro.
I don’t have any pro HD cards like Aja or blackmagic. -

Whoever exported this exported it as a QuickTime reference movie, not self contained. It’s a files that points to the existing media from an edit. The computer that made it can open it, because the media is present. But no other computer can open it. Unless they get the drive with media.
They need to reexport it self contained
