  • ProRes LT as proxies from external recorder?

Posted by Clermond Ferrand on July 9, 2016 at 3:31 pm

    I am shooting 4K XAVC-I on the FS7 and I am using the 7Q as director’s monitor.
The 7Q can simutanelously record 1080 ProRes (HQ / standard / LT)

I am wondering if I can use these LT files as proxies in FCPX?
Offloading would be much faster than creating Proxies.
    thanks for hints.

It’s a bit murky as FCPX doesn’t let you sub your own proxies.

It s not supported or guaranteed to always work – or really useful in your case – but you can let X create proxies then substitute your own as long as names and duration match.

I haven’t tested it but I have a vague notion that you don’t have to wait for X to generate all the proxies, just a few so everything’s set up and FCPX is looking for them.

Ditto. This functionality really needs to return.

If you reply to your own post the edit button comes back I think.
