prores light footage, poor playback, vegas – emergency!
hi All,
so I’ve been posting in the main Vegas forum, asking for tips about some troubles I’ve been having with footage from a Canon XF300.
I finally got the media trans-coded into prores light, and am trying to edit a piece and the deadline is TONIGHT but I can’t even get the footage to play back barely at all.
it’s 1080P, and even at draft quality, it is very slugish. I also just tried outputting 720 and 1080 p versions as AVI, and even they are incredibly sluggish.
My PC is a 64 bit os with only 4 gigs of ram, but many other types of footage I’ve used in the past work quite well (even at 720p).
I just got an AV job and have been pulling 12 hour days (which is why I haven’t had time to get this done), but I promised my friend I would have this film for him tomorrow and can’t sleep till it’s done.
If someone can give me a tip on a codec that is not too lossy, that will allow me to get good playback, or settings in Vegas to improve my playback… I will be SO grateful.
Desperately,
Thoreau
