  • ProRes 4444 not available in Log & Transfer with R3D?

Posted by Brendan Coots on October 24, 2009 at 5:26 am

I am conducting some tests using RED footage, FCS3 and CS4 Suite to get a handle on best practices for post. The files are in a folder on my local drive so I’m NOT capturing directly from camera.

It seems that a lot of people are suggesting the use of REDRushes for capturing R3D to ProRes 4×4, but I wanted to run it through FCP 7’s Log & Transfer for testing. I am only getting ProRes422 or HQ as my RED capture options, no 4×4. In another thread it was mentioned that you need a capture card to do this? Is this true even with local footage, NOT from the camera directly? Did I misinterpret that post altogether?

    Thanks in advance

without a capture card the 4444 setting for ProRes were not installed by default.

if you go to Applications > Final Cut Pro Additional Easy Setups you will find all of the additional easy setups including the ones for the 4444 codec.
