ProRes 4444 external drives
I have a 2-hour feature film on an HDCAM SR tape which I want to have captured as a file format for archiving purposes on an external drive. It seems like ProRes 4444 is the best way to go.
Besides archiving, I want to be able to access the file to do some light editing in Avid MC5 for creating show reels or for compressing the film for screening purposes or uploading to websites for festival submissions, etc.
So, I’m looking for the correct options for an external HDD in terms of what I need. Will Firewire 800 work in this regard? Will a portable HDD drive be okay?
My computer is an iMac 27inch running OS 10.7.5, 3.1 Ghz i5 processor with 4GB of RAM.
Thanks for any advice!
