    hello,

i digitized footage from a dvd using the codec “ProRes 422 HQ.” it looks the best. i used fcp 6.0. however, i have 4.5 at home and the footage will not work. is there a way to get around this?

    thanks,

Not that I know of. ProRes only works in FCP 6.0 as far as I understand. You would have needed to use something like DV or 8bit Uncompressed to work on an older system.

You could use the media manager tool and recompress those clips as something your older system will understand.

You can copy the ProRes Quicktime components to your other system (/Library/Quicktime).

This will let you read and write ProRes within any Quicktime based app. However, in FCP 4-5, you won’t get RT effects, and there may be other problems as well.
