    Hey Guys,

I am using AFX in conjunction with AVID media composer, and I can’t figure out why when I export a .mov (in After Effects) with the Avid Meridien codec, and then import it into Avid…the IRE blacks are at 0 and the whites are over 100 IRE.

Any help on how to export with legal video levels?

This is Avids problem, and frankly I’m a bit pissed at them. They updated their avid codec which somehow wants to pump the colors. We have a version of their old codec which works fine (exept it crashes combustion), so I need to manually switch between versions of the avid codec, pending on if I’m using combustion, or just rendering out of AE.

When I first seen the problem, I was doing versioning on an already color corrected spot. My renders kept coming out as if there was no CC done at all. It took me along time to find out it was avids new codec.

I would suggest dropping an email to avid (i’ve done the same). I find it a bit assine that this problem would exist, since it makes it a HUGE pain for the broadcast market.
