Hi, originally, I was just going to ask what I should purchase, just the software download from the Sony site, or the disc for approx $70 from the same site. In other words the pros/cons of these alternatives.

I have met the system requirements and have downloaded the trial version and have been very pleased so far, especially with no bogging and fast render times.

But,now it seems that just reading a few post, Vegas seems to be having serious rendering problems. My question now is maybe I should be looking at a different software? Can you give some feedback as to your level of satisfaction?

    thks for the input. Gary

Have been using Vegas since version 5 when i first started
in this business, tried all the others, and Vegas it is for
me….remember, there is no perfect NLE, all have their
weaknesses, but Vegas simply works for me, thats it, So i
    stick with it.

I can agree with Steve. Vegas is the most intuitive editor on the market. I think it is most popular with technical people too. You will get better results if you actually understand video codecs and delivery formats. If you don’t want all that knowledge, just a point and click editor, get FCP.

I have been using Vegas since Version 3 and I can count the number of crashes on one hand. Mostly self-inflicted. If your PC is up to the task and not loaded with gaming codecs, you will likely be OK.

Stephen, I guess you are one of the lucky ones. I don’t ever use games and only install tools to help with editing, and I’ve been using Vegas since V4 and with at least 5 computers. I certainly don’t have enough hands to count the number of crashes & hangs. Yes, I’m sure all NLE’s will crash at times, but Vegas certainly crashes more often than I would like, especially since version 8. I still love using it, it’s very powerful, very intuitive, and I don’t want to ever switch, but I do hope they patch up V11 to be as stable as V8.

Okay, I’m sold. Having to pay close to 2k for Adobe Pro Premiere, face expensive upgrades, possibly have to upgrade my GPU card again, and be faced with another long learning curve, have been strong factors in influencing my decion. Hopefully, with another build alot of the stability issues that some users have with the software will be resolved. Thanks for everyones input.
