  Projecting clips from films and movie trailers at a live music show

  Hi guys. I have a band that is heavily influenced by film music and film aesthetics. We are planning on synching original video to our songs during our live shows but also want to project

  1. film trailers right before we start and during an intermission

  2. Intro with a scene from a film that has music (see Metallica using Morricone’s “Ecstasy of Gold” )

  3. modified film clips in order to include the band within the film’s universe (example: a scene from a movie where we modify it in order to have the character wear one of our t-shirts or a scene from a movie where there is a sign with the logo of the band, etc.). Parody the films in a positive way.

  I want to know about copyrights. We’re a small band that wants to honor these pics as they are part of our influence. Is there a way to modify the clips in order to change them enough to avoid legal issues?
