Hi, all. A coworker of mine uses Premiere in her office, and I’m trying to help her with a problem.

She’s trying to make a playable DVD out of a .wmv file. The length of the movie is approx. 1hr45min (It’s a play that was shot, but I have no idea about how.)

I can tell you that the .wmv file properties are 640×480, shot at 25fps, and the file size is 1.036GB. When she tries to export to DVD in Premiere, it tells her that it won’t fit on a DVD. Could the reformatting of this .wmv file to DVD be jacking the size up that much?

Thanks for anything. Please tell me if I’ve left out anything pertinent.

The wmv file is 640×480, DVD specs are 720×576. You friend can put the wmv file in a pal project and scale it up to fit the frame and then export to dvd.

Hi, Ann. It’s actually going to be for NTSC, but I hear what you’re saying. Is the act of upscaling the reason why it’s not letting her fit it onto the DVD?

The wmv needs to have PAL dvd dimensions otherwise it will not export to dvd.

Whoa, that’s good to know! (I don’t use Premiere (not yet, anyway), so my apologies for this question)

I’m sure this came from page 3 of the manual, so thanks for the help. I shall pass it along to her. Thanks so much.
