I have a 600 frame clip made in PI. My preferences in PI read at 1440×1080 and my project settings confirm that. When exported as a QT movie to the desktop it plays and looks just fine. When I do a Command/I of the QT movie it reads:
    Apple HDV 1080i60, 1440 x 1080 (1888 x 1062), Millions
    840 x 575 pixels

The problem is that when I import this into Final Cut Pro whose sequence settings are 1440x1080i, the clip is so scaled up that most of the clip is not even visible. I know I must be doing something wrong and would hate to have to start this clip all over again, thus if someone could advise me I would appreciate it.

What’s probably happening now is that you’re stage window isn’t open as large as 1440×1080, and so it’s rendering a smaller version.

    From the FAQ:

particleIllusion can only render what is on screen, so the stage window must be 640×480 to render out a file at 640×480. You’ll need to resize the stage window until it is large enough to show the entire stage area, which you can do by clicking and dragging the dividers between the windows. In particleIllusion 3.0 you can use the ‘Load Layout’ function (from the ‘View’ menu) or the Alt-3 (Cmd-3 on Mac) shortcut to maximize the stage window.

But considering you’re rendering to HD, you’ll probably need to use pIRender to output your video. It’s a stand alone program that installed along side particleIllusion. Just open up the project in there and render.

Thank you Elvis for your quick reply…maybe something is missing from my understanding of this but you are correct in that manually adjusting the stage made a real difference in how the export resulted. In the future, for an HDV 1440x1080i sequence, what settings would you use?

One other question, I couldn’t find the answer in the manual, how do I take several individual emitters from various libraries and combine them into a Favorites library?

    Thanks again—steve
