  • Project setting Progressive or interlaced? ( Mixed media )

    Hello
I am editing a project that is a mixture of progressive animation, and interlaced shot footage (sony HDV 1440×1080) I have normally used the camera format for my project settings but with the addition of a lot of progressive footage I didn’t know if these choices effected speed, or rendering. I expect to post the video on the web, so I believe the most practical render will be 720p for streaming. I would rather not go through a step and interlace the very sharp animations. I don’t think I care about de-interlacing the shot footage. I am just not clear if the project setting have a major effect between what media was put in the project and what is rendered. or more simply stated. If my project settings are 1440x180i and I drop in progressive media, and render progressive will it degrade the image at all. or will my response while editing change ( attempting to deinterlace )
    Thanks
    Brad

I haven’t really thought of it, mostly because I don’t do any animation. If I did, I would probably make the project settings match the animation media.
Typically my work is shot in 1080i and my project settings are set to match the media. When I go to make a DVD or Blu Ray disk, I encode in progressive.

    Thanks Steve
I think I’ll follow that advice.
Vegas is so good at handling mixed file types I’m not sure exactly how project settings effects real time playback, (assuming frame rates match)and are the project settings in any way inserted in the render if you choose to render different from the project settings.
    Thanks Again
