Not sure how to properly word my problem. When I bring in my MTS files(from HMC-150), in the project media bin, the numbering does not work perfectly. For example, “file name x (1)” will be followed by “file x name (10)” then “file name x (100)..(101)..(102) ect.

Then x(12) will be followed by (120)..(121)..(122)..

The only way I’ve been able to get them to follow in the proper order is to use the “modified” column since it has the time at which it was recorded.

    Using Vegas Pro 9.0b
    Any suggestions?

Rename the clips so that they sort alphabetical properly. I like to use the free Bulk Rename Utility by TGRMN Software. You need to use leading zeros so that the clips are 001, 002, etc. like a still imgage camera names them (not sure why camcorder manufactures can’t seem to get this right)

Ouch! Now my folder is a big pile of 1500 MTS, AVI proxy, SKF and SFL files…

I’m afraid my proxy’s will be affected if the renaming is not perfect!

That’s right. You need to do your renaming before you create any proxies. I assume the proxies will need to have the exact same names with just a different extension so it’s probably too late to rename them now… but on the next project you should rename at the start.

Well, I bit the bullet. Deleted all the proxies and all and renamed properly using bulk rename. Now I need to redo the proxies, but at least all will be organized.

    Thanks for the tip!
