When trimming projects to their proper length, it would be handy to have an ongoing display of the overall project length. I know that this can be found in the “edit details”, but this is a cumbersome way to get this info—as well as stretching out the track to see where it ends.

Is there a setting in Vegas8, that I have been missing, that will display the overall project length, on/near the timeline, on an ongoing basis?

What a great idea!! – I have never thought to ask this. I have not heard of it being discussed – BUT this makes great sense indeed.

I know I can do a Ctrl+End to get a read out, but that then shifts my cursor to the End – fat lotta good that is?!?

No, that is an obvious request to make. If I have missed this then I must be working in a blinkered way . . .

    Grazie

I wrote a special custom command I use every week at church. One thing it does is tell me the length of the project AND how long/short I am from my target length so I know exactly how much I need to cut to continue. So it’s certainly possible to get what you’re looking for via a custom command. I find it extremely useful for that!
