Project file from a 1995 avid
I have an avid project folder from a project done in 1995. I would really like to be able to use the edit as a base of a film I am working on. I tried sebsky tools and also some avid editors I know have tried on their media composers but no luck so far.
But perhaps I am missing something or someone else knows how to do it and is willing to share the information. I am working on FCP but I only require the final edl / edit
I know it was done on a FC or MC on a Apple Quadra Avid.
I do appreciate any help

Did you try creating a new project, and just opening the bins? If 1995, you have four project choices when creating a new one:
NTSC
PAL
NTSC24 (not 23.976)
PAL 24Michael

It is a pal project but I am not able to open it. Not even in ALE. But I do not have my own avid so I am dependent on others.

from MC version 5 to MC version 5. That’s awesome.
The project will open and you can batch as you normally would. If going to FCP, a CMX3600 edl works, as long as the project is edl friendly. Doesn’t sound like you can hop in there and do 4 audio tracks at a time, remove plugins, ect. You’ll see these hickups left out in the new sequence. If reel names are larger than 5 characters you’ll have to mend that in the original project.

Hi Jochem,
IIRC, I already revived that project for NCF once, some years ago. I might even have a copy somewhere.
However, the trick is to add the extension ‘.avp’ to the file named ‘Serengeti Alfabet’, and the extension ‘.avs’ to the file named ‘Serengeti Alfabet Settings’. After that, I was able to open the project and the bins in MC 5.5 under OSX 10.6.6.
