My editor was editing a ten minute program on fcp2 and during a dissolve render he received a message: “error – out of memory” and the program closed. There is 43gig of hard drive space left.

When trying to re-open the program/project file he received the message “the application final cut pro has unexpectedly quit because an error type 2 occured.” Other projects on the same computer opened with no problems.

So unless anyone can offer any suggestions, I guess we are starting over.

    Thanks in advance,
    John Taylor

I hope you had the autosave feature turned on. Or does FCP 2 have that feature? I started with FCP 3.

If you have that feature, and it was turned on, just look for the AUTOSAVE VAULT (APPLE-F) and open the most current version of the project.

And it sounds like the crash was RAM related, not storage. How much RAM do you have?
