  • Project Closes Unexpectedly While Exporting with Compressor

So I’ve never had problems exporting sequences using Compressor until I updated from Final Cut 6.0.5 to 6.0.6 (not sure if that’s a coincidence or not), but now whenever I export a sequence using Compressor, Final Cut automatically closes the tab for the project that I’m exporting as soon as I begin the compression process, and when the compression is complete and I return to Final Cut, the project has been closed without a save prompt, and if I haven’t saved before the export, my progress will have been lost. Does anyone know why Final Cut is doing this to me and how I can prevent it from closing my project when I export using Compressor?

Export a reference movie out of FCP, and then open Compressor and import that movie.

Do you mean just exporting a QuickTime movie and then bringing that file into Compressor?

Yes, but a reference movie. File > Export > Quicktime Movie…

Then leave recompress all frames and make self contained UNchecked.

Hmm, I’m looking for a way to continue using the Export Using Compressor option and have the Final Cut project not close during the export.
