I’m new to this so appologies if this is a daft question.

I have been given some DV Pal footage that has been captured as progressive.

I’m adding graphics, text and transitions to the footage in FCP5, compressing it using compessor2 and burning it to DVD in DVDSP4.

Currently my FCP5 sequence is set to field dominance none, and i’m compresing as progressive but when i import it into DVDSP4 it says its 720x576i (interlaced)?

As the DVD will be watched on a standard TV i’m assuming the footage should be interlaced, so at what stage of the project workflow should i change it to interlaced to maintain the best quality.

    Many Thanks,
    Paul.

25p is easily embedded in 50i with no work from you. You’ll see that it still looks progressive, just recorded in an interlaced stream. Nothing to worry about.
