    Hello –

I am shooting on a SONY HDR FX7 -great HDV camera EXCEPT for no XLR input. ONLY Mini!
I dont know much about mics…Can someone point me in in the right direction? Mostly looking for a handheld (for hosting & on the fly interviews) – possibly a lav too.

    Thanks for any help!

I would use an XLR adapter and then you have all the mic choices in the world .

We have a Sony VX 2100 and use a Beachtek DXA-4 with it. Works great.

    Sennheiser ew100ENGG2 wireless set-up.

You get the best of both worlds. Comes with mini and XLR cables. Has nice mount for hot shoe. Also comes with butt plug to make your stick into a wireless. And of course comes with a LAV.
