Producing Blu-rays and DVDs of same Project
Now that I have a saved HD veg file and a filled Blu-ray folder containing the rendered/encoded files of my production, I also want to burn standard DVDs of the same project. So what is the best process and methodology to achieve this?
1) Set the veg properties to SD widescreen and re-encode/re-render the production in Vegas, then author it as an SD project in the authoring program of choice; or
2) Have the authoring program of choice re-render/re-encode the already-produced HD files (*.mt?) to MPEG-2 SD widescreen files after authoring?
Either way one will end up with MPEG-2 files and a folder structure ready to burn to standard DVDs. My goal is not the fastest process, but rather the one that ends up with the best quality and compatibility.
Your advice, as always, is most welcome and appreciated, and I thank you in advance for your answers.

You don’t have to change your project properties. Just render to DVD Widescreen. Optionally you can use the “Stretch video to fill frame (do not letterbox)” option to eliminate minor pillarboxing due to the fact that SD Widescreen is not perfect 16:9 like HD is.

This is the fastest way and should produce acceptable results. Of course the quality will depend on what your “authoring program of choice” is.

The “best” quality will be to render to DVD Widescreen from the original HD project. That is also the longest choice.
A third option is to just change your project properties in DVD Architect to from Blu-ray to DVD and press the Burn Disc button and let it do everything for you. It couldn’t be easier. I would try all three options and see if you can tell the difference between the output. Then use the one that you like the best (or the quickest one of you can’t tell the difference)
