    This is a funny one.

So i started the network render, and it bails out on the remote machine. I open the collected files aep on the remote machine and check through the footage in the project list.

Some files turn up missing, and somehow they appear as missing jpgs even though they are psd files and are in the collected files folder themselves. The error generated while rendering is the photoshop library failed because the filename is not valid.

    damn what gives?

So after a night’s rest, i’ve restarted the rendering process on both computers.

This time it’s remote comp,B, is started first, to render as on a multi machine sequence. Then main comp,A, is started.

So far i’ve managed to repeat the same problem, but i can restart the renders on B, if i’m seated at the machine. I think perhaps the real reason behind all these faults is the way A does a file lock or temp file for the photoshop files. This causes B to read it as an invalid file and stop rendering.

    yes. 🙁
