problems with track motion
Posted by Gon Perdigao on December 9, 2008 at 12:03 ami’m having trouble with track motion. The footage is real bad and with a lot of grain, what is your sugestions?

December 9, 2008 at 10:49 amJust increasing the size of the feature and search regions areas might help, or analysing forward by a single frame at a time and readjusting the track points should they happen to stray.
You could try increasing the contrast of the footage. You could also add the Remove Grain effect, which will lengthen the time it takes to run the track (this effect is render heavy) but may improve the quality of the track. You can then remove the effects later. Remember that you will need to pre-compose the effected footage before running the track, otherwise the tracker will just bring up the unmodified footage for tracking.
Alternatively, hit the options button in the tracker controls panel and turn on Process Before Match. Try a blur of 2-3 pixels to get rid of the grain.
I should add that some shots are pretty much impossible to track using AE’s inbuilt tools, so you may have to abandon all hope at some point. Shaky footage is better than badly tracked footage!
