  • Problems with .swfs files (72×72 pixels and a blank image)

I am working on a mac os X lion 10.7.2 Mid 2010 Mac Pro. Using AE CS 5.5 with full updates.

I am having swfs working occasionally and then sometimes when i reopen the aep file I get ALL of my swfs as a 72×72 blank image. nothing has changed with the original swf, once it happens any new swfs I import are also coming in the same.

I end up having to shut down and reopen AE to kind of reset this, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. It is becoming really tiresome now.

Did anyone find a solution yet to whats causing this problem?

    Thanks in advance

I came across something odd today regarding this issue.

I had been using CS 5 for a while on the same machine which did not have all the plugins installed. The .swf files were working fine in this setup so I assumed it was just some odd incompatibility with the files and CS5.5. Today I installed Video Copilots Optical Flares, opened the projct that I have been working on all week and my .swf files agin are loading in as 72×72 pixel square blank images. Knowing that this plugin was the only thing I had changed I removed it from the plugin folder, restarted AE and opened the same project. All was back to normal again… I have since removed the plugin on the CS 5.5 install and my .swf files work fine again now.

I am going to write to the good people at Video Copilot to see if the can recreate my finding and hopefully fix this.

If you have a similar problem to me i’d like to hear on here if this worked for you.
