Problems with print to video in FCP 5.0
I’ve made a short HDV film and wish to print to video for back up purposes using FCP 5.0.
In fcp I am using the settings dictated by selecting HDV 1080i50 in the easy set up and I’m recording onto a sony HDV-HC3 video camera. I’ve tried with both i.link conversion on and off and the camera is recognized in the apple system profiler.
It seems I’ve tried every option and trawled through countless forums to no avail. Please help!

iLINK COV affects output from the camera only, not recording … so that setting should not affect anything
What exactly isn’t working then? Press Cmd-Zero to open your sequence’s settings window and confirm that the settings are all as expected. Make sure you have View menu > Video Playback set to Apple Firewire and View > External Video set to All Frames. Then what happens exactly when you choose print to Video?

Thanks for the quick response.
I tried what you suggested but neither worked. In View > video playback there is no option to set it to apple firewire and the two hdv options are greyed out. In View > External video, when I change the option to all frames it remains set to None. So maybe this is the problem?
It seems the camera is recognized by fcp. When I tried print to video and checked the box ‘Automatically start recording’ it did just that, only I had 16 minutes of blue instead of footage.
Any further help would be greatly appreciated!
