Problems with making picture’s white background transparent.
Hey!
I just got Sony Vegas, and i have to make a movie. So, i’m having problems with making picture’s white background transparent. I kinda know how to do it, but the thing is that.. i put on that picture “Chroma Keyer” and bypass the Chroma Keyer plug-in, that’s ok so far. Then i choose white color with that brush, and everythings still ok. But then, when i enable the Chroma Keyer plug-in, picture, which shoud stay how it is, turns 50 % transparetn. So, i have a picture with a person and background is grass, so i can see through that person and see graas. How can i get that person is ON the graas, and i can’ t see through the picture? -

If you are using just a still picture then I would use the Mask feature in PAN/CROP. If you are unfamiliar with this function look on You tube there are many good quick tutorials.

Once you select the color to key out, you must adjust the Low threshold and High threshold to make a clean mask. Check the Show mask only checkbox to see just the mask and adjust the High and Low until the mask is completely black and white with no shares of gray. Then turn off Show mask only and you should have a much cleaner key.

White and black are not easy to key out as usualy there is a little white and black in the subject somewhere. So a mask can be used in those areas in combination with the chroma key filter. This can save you time by not having to mask every frame where the subject has moved. Hope this helps, Danny
