Problems with listing correct clip-TC from EDL (2017.0.1 v11.0)
Hey,
I’m trying to export out an clip list from my sequence so I can deliver an shotlist of all my clips in the timeline to a thirdparty. I’m running an multiclip sequence with 3 sources(25 frames) and need the source filename, source TC and project/sequence TC in the list. I tried exporting an EDL that gave me everything I wanted, but when i look at the end TC on every clip, I see that it adds one extra frame on both source and sequence end-TC:001 AX V C 14:36:01:08 14:36:05:19 00:22:03:18 00:22:08:04

* FROM CLIP NAME: 20161209_143418921_INGEST3_Input1_cam01.movIf i export out the first clip(as an example) in this list with an burned in TC(both source and project/sequence TC) I can see that the end-TC on this clip is 14:36:05:18(source) and 00:22:08:03(project/sequence), even tho the EDL list the end TC as 14:36:05:19(source) and 00:22:08:04(project/sequence). If I look at the info-tab on the selected clip in the timeline, I also see that the end-TC is 14:36:05:18(source) and 00:22:08:03(project/sequence), even to the EDL lists it different.
Why is that? Is this a bug with the EDL export, or is this just how EDL works?
Is there an other way to export out an correct clip list from my Premiere Pro timeline that lists correct TC in/out?
(We have greenscreen footage recorded that we want to match up with the footage from the camera. The greenscreen footage are recorded in an other device(realtime gfx-engine) with the same TC, but if the Premiere Pro TC is one frame extra in the out-TC it will give us an mismatch when we ask for greenscreen footage from TC: 14:36:01:08 to 14:36:05:19(TC listed from the EDL), when the footage we need ends at 14:36:05:18).

EDL timecodes are exclusive instead of inclusive. Premiere out points are inclusive because you mark it on the last frame you want to keep. Exclusive out points mark the point where the cut actually happens.

Do you or anyone else know if there is any feature in Premiere Pro to switch between Inclusive/Exclusive “timecode/clip selection”(don’t know a better name for it ;p )?
Or if there is any other way to make a list of all your sequence-clips with “inclusive timecode/clip selection”? 🙂

There’s no way to change the Premiere out point preference and as far as I know the EDL exclusive outpoint is specified in the standard.

EDLs are tools of tape based editing systems. That was the standard for VTR editing. The fact that today EDLs are still used for everything but their original intention is kind of comical, but because they are so basic and simple, it continues.
I would imagine someone could write a macro/script that adjusted all the outpoints in Excel or something, but I have never run across one.
