We are using an .scc file for CC. The file imported as it should and the captions all work perfectly on some DVD players but on other DVD players the captions play back sporatically with only portions showing up now and again. We tried putting the file on line 1 and both line 1 and line 2 in Encore and we are still having issues with some machines while other machines play back beautifully. Any thoughts?

    Thanks so much

I suspect it’s more a problem with the TV monitor doing the decoding rather than the DVD itself. If you can, using the same disc, try swapping players and monitors to see if there’s some sort of pattern: Brand X monitor decodes better than Brand Y… DVD player Q works better than DVD player Z.

Thanks. Good thoughts on the troubleshooting. The thing is that the DVD player and TV monitor that do not play our captions back well do play other captions on other discs back perfectly fine. So I would imagine that the player and/or TV monitor might simply be older and not handle Encore CC very well. I am beginning to chalk this up to Encore simply not being as strong as say Scenarist when it comes to authoring closed captions. More of a hit and miss with Encore than it would be with Scenarist or some other higher end authoring packages.
