  • Problems using HDMI to monitor playback from fcp x

    Hi

I am having difficulties monitoring playback back in fcp x out of a new Mac Pro via HDMI.

I have a Panasonic Plasma TV hooked up via HDMI. The television shows up and is identified as a secondary monitor in the system preferences.

However, it does not show up at all in FCP X in the preferences. It simply says AV “None Found”. Under the windows pane AV is greyed out. I am on the latest version of FCP X and latest version of the OS.

    Any thoughts?

    Strike that.

I have sorted it out. Very straight forward – the project must be in a format recognised by the Panasonic eg 1080P. That was it. If they are not the TV wont recognise the HDMI signal and FCP X will tell you that there is no AV device attached.

You just gave me new hope for my 5770 card with hdmi out. I have it installed on a MacPro 1,1 jury rigged to run mavericks and FCP 10.1.1. The other day I pulled up the prefs to see if the HDMI was a viable out like on the MacPro, but nope. But I didn’t have a monitor hooked up.

I found if you’re mirroring the desktop it also doesn’t work. Have to be in extended desktop mode.
