Problems using AVC INTRA, blackmagic hd extreme, Calldigit raid
Good day to you all.
I have recently embarked on a huge project, it is the 1st of a 10prt tv series.
The project is huge it was shot on 3 p2 cameras shot 1920 1080 50i with the avc intra codec.
The media was ingested with log and transfer and ingested native (avc intra not pro res 422 hq or lt)We are runing a mac pro machine with 12gig ram , ati raedon512 gfx card and a caldigit external 16tb raid, video output is been done on a black magic hd extreme 3 card.
The project is heavily graded with “Looks” and lots of speed changes and title overlays etc.
Problems are .. the machine is highly unstable crashes consistently..ie 3 times an hour minimum.
I have swapped out the raid ,gfx card, memory, cpu’s even mac pro !
the crash reports keep refering to kernal issues ..Could the decklink and raid card be conflicting or causing issues.. project is awesome , but working on it is a nightmare 50% of the time is wasted on crashes….
Could the crashes be due to a bottle neck effect caused by 2 conflicting cards?
any sugestions?!!Does black magic support avcintra natively ??

Is that Magic Bullet Looks? There was a thread a few weeks ago about Looks causing major issues. If you remove the MB Looks from the timeline, does that stop the crashing? Let me look up the old thread.
Have you setup all the cards in the PCIe slots correctly?

Yup all cards installed in correct slots , all running latest firmware.
We have now removed black magic decklink and substituted AJA box.
So far so good. A crash or 2 is expected and we can live with.
I dont think magic bullet could cause our issues .. crashes were there before we started grading.One techie reckons we were bottle necking the front side bus. the raid card and the blackmagic are perhaps fighting for bandwidth on the main board?
lets hope aja will help sort this out?
