• Problems setting up my Decklink Mini Monitor

Posted by Mark Stark on August 1, 2018 at 4:14 am

I just purchased a Mini Monitor and installed it in my PC.
I am running it with the latest version of Desktop Video Setup (Desktop Video Installer 10.110.1).
I am experiencing some strange effects:

FIRSTLY:
The signal via HDMI doesn’t get recognized by my Sharp Aquos TV and the Shogun Inferno. The sharp tells me that the video signal is illegal (I tried 1080 I and P with 25/30/50/60 and also 720p). Always the same result.

Th check whether it is an issue I connected the Atomos Shogun Inferno. The Shogun keeps telling me NO SIGNAL when connected via HDMI but works perfectly fine with SDI.

Strangely a TOSHIBA TV works fine with the HDMI, too. So the HDMI out on the card must be working ok.

SECONDLY:
When using DaVinci the image on the Toshiba(HDMI) and the Shogun(SDI) gets cropped almost 200%.
When using AVID Media Composer, the image is shown exactly at its original size.

I can’t quite figure out what I am doing wrong.
Does anyone here in the forum have similar experiences and/or any ideas what I can do to fix the issues?

Thanks in advance and cheers
Markus

Is this a 4K model? Did you use the BMD setup utility to specifically configure the output format, or is it running on defaults?

Thanks

Hi Jeff,
It is the HD (1920×1080) version.
I installed Desktop Video Installer v10.11.1.msi to run the card.
It get’s recognised in AVID and in DaVinci, but when using it with DaVinci it crops the image.

No idea though, why it doesn’t work on a Sanyo TV.

Cheers,.

Look in Programs for DESKTOP VIDEO SETUP (under Black Magic). That is the tool that allows you to customize the output resolution and such for the Black Magic card.

Thanks

But that’s, what I have installed. Desktop Video Setup Ver. 10.11.1.
And the card works fine in AVID, but In DaVinci it crops theimage. Is there a specific menu in DaVinci?
