My hard drive just took a hard nose-dive, and I just had the drive replaced. At the same time, I upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. In retrospect this may have been a mistake.

After getting the new drive installed I was having trouble launching Final Cut Pro. Sometimes it would go but not often. Thinking it would help, I re-installed Final Cut Studio from DVD, and now I am all kinds of dead in the water. I can’t get it to run at all now, and I must admit I’m freaking.

My machine: dual 2 GHz G5, 2 gigs RAM, (now) running 10.5.2. The reluctant FCP in this case is 5.1.4.

Any thoughts about how I can goad my machine back to productivity? Final Cut Pro is the one app without which I can’t do my job.

either go back to Tiger or do a clean formatted install of Leopard if you have the time.

Upgrades for the OS are not the best thing to do.
    Clean installs are more successful.

If you rely on it for your income, then a cloned drive of a working system should always be on hand in case.
