Problems installing previous version of Final Cut Studio on new iMac.
I just purchased the new Intel 2 duo core iMac, but am having an impossible time installing my older version of FC Studio. I have it installed on 3 of my older single duo core Macs (including a not so powerful MacBook), but when I try to install on my new iMac, it completely freezes up in the install phase forcing me to Force Restart (by holding in the power button) the computer. The strange thing is that it acts like a completely normal installation, and even begins to actually install, but then once it starts installing the “Boris Language Pack” it instantly freezes.
Any insights as to why this is happening would be incredibly appreciated.

Which FC version are you trying to install?
In an Intel Mac you can install from FC5.1 on. Previous version are not Intel compatible.

Well, I don’t know for sure what the exact version of the software is, but I do know that the two other Macs I installed it on have the Intel processors, although they are the older “white” versions vs. my new black and metal iMac. Would that make a difference?

Hi Michael,
I think that if you have been able to install it in an Intel Mac, you can install it in any other Intel Mac.
FC5.0 and before can only be installed in PPC Mac. From FC5.1 onward can be installed in PPC and Intel Mac.
FC6 can be installed in Intel and PPC, although some old PPC models can not run it.
