    Hi!

I’m trying to import .mov files into MC7 using DNxHD36. I get three files, one of which is twice the size of the original mov file. I don’t have much hard drive space. So is there a way I can import without using up as much space? The idea is that I batch import once the cut is locked.

    Thank you!

You could try a workflow where you edit with lower resolution transcodes then reconcile to a higher resolution when your cut is finished. If you use AMA and transcoding instead of importing, you’ll be able to later decompose the sequence, relink it to the AMA footage, then transcode just the portions you’ve included to the high res. I think with batch imports you’ll have to import the entire file, which will take more space and more time.
