OK…this is bugging me and I can’t figure it out.

I’m trying to import a 3D object from Cinema 4D R10.1 into AE CS3. I downloaded the latest plugin(CAD.plugin) from Maxon which supposed to work for the latest AE. I placed the plugin into the AE plug-ins folders.

So I enter my render settings in C4D and do a render and I get both the aec and mov files.

Now when I go into my AE and try to import the aec file, nothing happens. I’ve read few places with similar problem and most of the times is a matter updating the latest plugin, but I’ve already done this here so I still have no idea what the problem is. Am I missing something I don’t know? Can anyone help? Thanks.

I’ve had problems with the same thing too, even after installing the new plugin etc.

By accident I got it working with one single scene file, but not any other. So now if I want to export the camera data etc. I have to make a copy of that one file and then replace the scene contents with my new scene! And then it works again!

I think it’s got something to do with file hierarchy, because sometimes the export doesn’t work if I export it into certain directories or hard drives.

I’m having the exact same problem!! I’ve tried everything – I have the right “Cs3” plugin, I’ve saved the C4D file out with AE clicked with 3D data. But to no avail! The saved file is not recognized. What gives?!
