Problems capturing!!!!!!
Posted by Byron L. pfordte on June 11, 2007 at 8:06 pmI am having trouble with Final Cut Express HD dropping frames and really getting the video and audio out of sync when capturing. I am at a complete loss. I am capturing via firewire from a Panasonic DVCPRO deck(AJ-D250). Any help would be great.

June 11, 2007 at 8:45 pmI had problems capturing thru a G5 dual Motorola and a G4 PowerBook to various LaCie external firewire drives from Canon XL2 camera and Beta SP deck sources for nearly three months.
Invariably, video would freeze every 30-40 seconds, then continue rolling, then freeze every 30-40 seconds, and so on, during capture.
I recently upgraded to version 3.5 and have done several recent captures – one for 48 straight minutes – with absolutely NO freezing.
Also, I performed the suggested (on this site) steps related to Spotlight on both computers.
Good luck.

June 12, 2007 at 12:46 pmI am not capturing to an external drive. I have had this machine for about a year with no problems capturing until this problem came up about 3 weeks ago. The drive on my G5 is only about a third full.

June 13, 2007 at 1:39 amJust installed TIGER with my power mac G5 fresh from scratch and installed the following like Finalcut 4.0,then dvd studio pro and so forth…..then went online to update then started to log and capture, unfortunately every 25-30 seconds my video would freeze and then it would go fine like normal capture but then again it would stop or freeze in every 25-30 secs. I don’t have any problems before with panther, but since the upgrade everything changed. what could be the problem? By the way I am using a sony DSR-11 for a long time and tried with the other mac, everything seems to work fine.
Thank you in advance and for your time.
