Problem working with HDCAM 1080 50i
Hello,
I’m trying to work on a project we shoot in spain few weeks ago. Everything was recorded to HDCAM 1080 50i. I captured the tapes through the AJA LHi card installed on my Mac Pro to Apple ProRes 1080 25fps from an HDCAM deck. I have 6 clips total with a length of 5 min max. per clip. We want to put this project, which is a concert music video, on portals like youtube and vimeo, etc but also it would be on TV.
What is the best way to go in order to edit the whole thing in 24p or 30p. Do I convert every clip before editing or edit it as it is at 25 in my fcp sequence and then convert the final clip to 24 or 30? The final piece would have audio from CD but sweetened to get a live feeling.Thanks.

Why? Precisely what is the goal you seek to achieve? Is this about a look you hope to achieve?

what I’m trying to achive maybe is not a look or maybe it is. If I conform on cinema tools to 23.98 everything will strech (4% slower I think) and pitch would not work for me since this is a music concert video.
Now, I been cracking my head looking how can I achive this, so I made a test since I need to deliver a SD NTSC 29.97 ASAP. I edited everything on native 25 ProRes and exported from FCP with current settings on timeline, then I went and conformed the exported file on cinematools to 23.98. Went back to FCP, made a new sequence 720×480 29.97 and then I placed the conformed file and speed it up to 104.15% if I’m right, and that solved the pitch issue. Exported again
and in compressor I applied the desired compression for delivery.
It worked but I know this is not the best way of doing it. I also need to deliver
for web in 720p HD and make another one 1080p that for those I would
need to have them progressive. As you see I need a variety of delivery formats.
