  • problem with quality ae to fcp…

    hi guys,

i have edited a movie in fcp and it’s shot at 16:9 and i’ve used the widescreen setting in fcp. looks fine. now i’m making the title sequence for it in ae and it obviously needs to match up. i couldn’t figure out the settings – when i made the comp settings in ae ‘ntsc widescreen’ the output came out as a regular 4:3 movie, same when i imported it to fcp. i tried things out and finally got the letterbox effect i needed when i made the ae comp settings 720×400 – that matches, but now i am seeing a serious drop in the quality of the image when i play it on the timeline in fcp. weirdly enough when i play the clip NOT on the timeline it looks fine. i am so stumped. any ideas??
    thanks –

    emma.

    Emma,
Try your setting in AE as ntsc D1 widescreen square pixel,(your width and higth is automatically set to 864×486).
Your pixel aspect ratio is also set to square pixel,
    16:9…

    Hope this helps…
Although I am a little late with an answer…

    Cheers,
