    Hey guys,
So I’m having problems viewing playback in the capture window. I get a scrambled mess of what looks like folder windows and the “preview disabled” bars and tone. In my external monitor it plays back fine. When I capture it and play it back from either the viewer or canvas window, it looks fine. The problem only seems to be in the Log and Capture window. The problem started when we installed our Nvidia Quadro 4000. When we switched back to the GFX card that came with the computer it started working again. We would just use the old card, but we need the 4000 for Smoke. Any suggestions?

    FCP Version: 7.0.3
    OS Version: 10.6.6
    Capture Card: Kona 3G
    GFX Card: Nvidia Quardo 4000

    Thanks,

Given the recommended cards for FCP are ATI, I suspect the NVIDIA is causing the issue as it comes and goes with the graphic card swap and doesn’t actually affect the L&C process, just the monitoring.

If you have to have the card for smoke, then you might have to live with that issue. You may also find problems if you use Color.

What’s the other card? Autodesk has qualified the ATI Radeon HD line (with some caveats, depending on what release of Smoke you’re running and what model card you have).

    Hey guys,

Our old card was an ATI Radeon HD 5770. I looked and it is compatible with Smoke. I just wish we could get out Quadro 4000 to work.

I called AJA support and spoke to Keith. After sending him screen shots of my Log and Capture window, he told me he also thinks it’s a problem with the Quadro 4000. I’m waiting for a response from Autodesk to find out if the newest Kona 3G driver is compatible with smoke.

So then I called PNY and spoke to John. I told him about the problem, which he took to his engineer who said he didn’t think updating the Kona, the Mac OS, or switching which slots the cards were in would solve the problem, that we would probably need to wait for the next driver update for the 4000 to resolve the problem.

If anyone here’s anything else or solves this problem, let us know.

    Thanks,
