  • problem with motion tracker, boris fx trialversion in vegas pro

    Hi guys,

I just installed the trial version of the BorisFX8 continuum unit under vegas pro 12 64bit.

Unfortunately the motion tracker is not working.

I already watched some of Boris video tutorials, concerning corner pin and motion move, but unlike described there, the click on “track on the fly” always (!)leads to this message:
“Look ahead exceeded. Please rewind to frame xy of your clip and hit the Clear host Check box if needed to force reender.”

As described in the tutorials, I moved the cursor back and clicked the Clear Render Cache button, but nothing really changed: the motion tracker simply doesn´t appear in the player. Never. Only the message. So using Dynamic RAM preview is not an option either. Every time I click on the “track on the fly” checkbox, the above mentioned message appears, at frame 0, or 12, or 120…

Btw, the BCC optical stabilizer is working perfect.

I am really interested in using these motion tracker effects. Any help? Thanks in advance so much!

I assume you are in the middle of your project timeline. You need to perform your tracking in a new project at the beginning of the timeline. Then either render that out, or drop that project into your main project as a nested project.

Great! I didn’t realize that limitation when I made the Boris TV tutorials or else I would have mentioned it (sorry).

    Hi again,

now since I am trying out Borix Fx motion tracking effects for the first time, I wonder if it is possible to corner pin an object when one corner/tracker is “leaving” the frame?

Like the smartphone does as shown here in this mocha-tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rusatIpwcq0

Can I create something similar only using vegas and borix fx motion tracker? When I tried e.g. to track an object in a pan the trackers couldn´t leave the image.

Thanks for any info, ideas or help.
    Marcel

No, not to my knowledge. That’s one of the main differences between a “corner pinner” and a “planar tracker” and why you need both.

    Hi John,
Your tutorials are great. I’ve gotten bcc9 for Vegas Pro 13 and am trying to get it working. It seems to have a lot more controls than those you’ve discussed and it would be super helpful if you could do a new tutorial showing us how to use this handy tool.

A big problem I have is the same one mentioned here. I have the clip as the only clip in the project, it’s a the beginning of the time line and I can’t get too far into playing the clip before I get “Look ahead exceeded. Please rewind to Frame 70 (or whatever) etc.”

I’m missing something important but darned if I can figure out what it is. I see the tracing working so I’ve got that, sort of, working I think but can’t see enough to know.

Any help at this stage would be mucho appreciated.
    Thanks,

Thanks for the kind words. There are 27 of my tutorials on Boris TV for BCC and Vegas Pro. The last 4 are on new features of BCC9. What new features are you specifically looking for tutorials on? I can certainly create more. 😉

The Motion Tracker is limited to 30,000 frames. At 30fps, that’s a little more than 16 minutes. At 60fps that’s only 8 minutes. How long is the clip you are trying to track?

    Hi John,
I saw that, what is puzzling is the clip is 23 seconds and 11 frames long at 30fps.
Sort of a bit short of the 30,000… I’ve got to be missing some important point…
    Really appreciate your help.

Are you using RAM Preview to do the Motion Tracking? Maybe it’s loosing sync with real-time playback but RAM Preview will ensure that every frame is displayed and thus tracked.
