Problem with importing large numbers of PNG files
I can not import more than ~400 PNG files in a sequnce. I have a clip that is 900 files long. When I import them all as a sequence, nothing happens. The only thing I can do, is to select about 300 – 400 of them, and import them in sections. Is there a maximum number of PNG files that can imported? The AE help files do not address it. My guess is that there is a preference for it, but I could not find anything in the “import” preference, realted to this issue. I also wonder if it is a RAM issue. I have 1 GB of RAM.

whats your naming scheme? ae can only see so many maybe try downloading a file renamer and you can change it to something shorter and sequencial.
Are the names all exactly the same, minus the number? -
Here is a sample of the first name. Intro 2 180000.png
The last file name is Intro 2 180900I am using 3D MAX to create the file. It names them automatically, in sequence. I set the name of the file as: Intro 2 18.png. 3D MAX added 4 more digits for the sequence. Maybe I should not have used any spaces in the name?

maybe try adding underscores with a file renamer.

Try looking for ‘0k’ sized frames in the finder and check that you have no missing numbers in your sequence? That might help.

I briefly checked for missing files and did not see any. I then used Adobe Bridge to batch rename all of the files in sequence: 0001 through 0900. It did not fix the problem.
I do not know what is ment by looking for “OK” sized frames in the finder.

“0 K”, as in “zero K”, or files with no content. 🙂

try it on another pc. that sounds weird I use them all day long with no problem. maybe try resetting the prefs or something.

I created a different, smaller 320 x 240 png sequence in in 3ds Max, on a didfferent computer. Then tried to import the sequence into AE on the different computer. I could get all the way to 580 files in the sequence. It would not accept 581 or anything above.?.
It looks like I may be resorting to importing these sequences in sections.
