Problem with footage from Canon XH A1
I’ve looked through a bunch of forums (this one included) and I can’t seem to figure out a problem that I’m having with footage shot on a Canon XH A1. I shot it at 1080i at 24 fps and it plays fine on the camera’s screen. The problem I have is when I import the footage into FCP. I’m getting these jagged lines that appear whenever there is movement in the frame.
I’ve made custom capture settings at 1080i, 24 fps, and made sure that the advanced settings were set to interlace. In spite of this, I’m still getting those lines and they come out even more intense when I make a DVD of the footage.
I’ve also tried the de-interlacing filter and it really cuts back on the resolution and make it more pixelated.
I know it’s not an issue of the footage itself because it plays fine in the camera so it’s probably an issue of when I import it. Does anyone have any pointers?

How are you viewing the footage?
Interlace footage is going to be apparent when there is movement.
Do not use a interlace filter.
Capture, Edit, Output final ref movie w/current settings (Interlaced and all) Drop that file into compressor and create DVD ready files.
